Mother Annie Louise Jordan

Mother Annie Louise Green Jordan was born in Madison County, Alabama on October 23, 1919, to the late Will Allie Green and Janie Cothern Green. She departed this life on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at her home in Elora, Tennessee.

Annie Louise confessed hope in Christ in 1954 and united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, New Market, Alabama, under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Charlie Ross. She was a devoted member of the Ushers’ Board for many years and was later crowned Mother. She faithfully fulfilled the duties of a dedicated mother. She always encouraged, witnessed, and never failed to proclaim the power of God and his goodness to humanity. Her ultimate joy was praise, worship and glorifying the name of Jesus. It mattered not how often or how long the service lasted, she never grew weary. She ran for Jesus a long time and never complained about being tired. She served willingly and untiring until her health would not allow her to continue. Even in her last days and on her sick bed, she continued to “Praise God” and loved to talk about “the Good Master.”

She was a living example of a dedicated servant of the Most High God. She never met a stranger; she always greeted others with a hug and an encouraging word. Many called her Mother Jordan; to Know her, is to Love her.

Annie Louise was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and quilting. She was a seamstress and enjoyed designing her own patterns. Passing along her wonderful qualities, she taught her daughters to sew and be good homemakers.

She united in holy matrimony to the late Paul William Jordan and to this union seven children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories: five daughters, Earline Hammonds and Mattie Taylor of Elora, Tennessee, Pauline Jordan of Huntsville, Alabama, Callie Jordan of Meridianville, Alabama, and Eula (Sandy) Kinslow of Huntland, Tennessee; two sons, Willie Allen of Elora, Tennessee and Timothy of Huntsville, Alabama; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren; a special devoted friend, Mother Frances Pinchon; a caring special friend, Sister Lizzie Crutcher, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church (292 Cemetery Road, New Market, AL 35761) with Reverend William Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Mother Jordan will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public Viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013; and from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Royal Funeral Home.
