Mr. Charlie Walton Basel was born to Mr. Denches Basel and Mrs. Louise Wallace Basel on June 16, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Annie Williams.
In the year of our Lord 1967, Mr. Charlie Walton Basel united in holy matrimony to Clara M. Edwards of Louisville, Kentucky. He now leaves his loving and devoted wife, Janice L Basel of thirty-six years.
Mr. Basel joined the Briarfork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in 2005 under the pastorship of Elder Theodis Acklin. Mr. Basel’s work history was one that far surpasses any other job description. He worked for the University of Alabama at Huntsville for twenty-seven years until he retired.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family that consists his wife; six sons and four daughters: Charles Edwards (Andrea) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Wanda Basel Taylor (Billy), Sandra Basel, Jermaine Basel all of Louisville, Kentucky, Kendrick Moore (Marketha), Roddrick Moore, Antonio Moore (Yolanda), Rodney Moore, Michelle McDonald all of Huntsville, Alabama, and Fredrick Vincent (Randy) of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law: Betty Baker (Willie) of Toledo, Ohio, John Fletcher (Charise) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Sally Jones, Samella Burton (Wallace), Shirley Jefferson, Willie Mae Moore, and Sam Dancy, Geraldine Moore, Ethel Dancy, Ronnie Moore; niece, Tina Wright; nephews, Joseph Nance, Emory Nance, all of Huntsville, Alabama, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the West Mastin Lake Baptist Church (4705 Mastin Lake Road; Huntsville, AL 35810) with Pastor T.C. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Mr. Basel will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
Public viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011; and from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Royal Funeral Home.
